Fairtrade Fortnight in Norfolk 2009

Fair Trade in Norfolk

Campaigning across the county

Fair Trade in Norfolk (FTiN) is a local action group of people from across Norfolk (UK) promoting fair trade and fairly-traded products.

Campaigning to promote fair trade

Better trading conditions

Fair trade provides an alternative to conventional international free trade. By promoting trade that is based on dialogue, equity, and transparency, it creates better trading conditions for 'disadvantaged' or 'marginalised' people in the countries of the South.

Fair trade organisations buy direct

Fair trade organisations buy direct from farmers at better, fairer prices. They provide producers with a price that covers the cost of production and an extra premium that is invested in the local community.

A fair income

What this does is to guarantee a fair income and decent living standards for small-scale independent farmers of crops like coffee, cocoa or bananas.

Our campaign

Fair Trade in Norfolk (FTiN) is a local action group of people from all over the county campaigning to promote fair trade and fairly-traded products. FTiN has the support of Norwich City Council, prominent city businesses, schools, churches and the local media. FTiN succeeded in February 2005 in making Norwich a Fairtrade City. We compile the Fair Trade Guide to Norwich & Norfolk, available on-line as a comprehensive directory of fairtrade-selling shops, cafés, and wholesalers.

Thanks to the Fair Trade market, our standard of living has substantially increased. With your help we look forward to a more promising future.
